Each King Cake includes a plastic baby, inserted in the cake, upon baking, UNLESS OTHERWISE REQUESTED.

Cakes are packaged in a windowed, Mardi Gras themed cake box, which measures 10” x 14” Provides approximately 8-10 servings, per cake.

KING CAKE TRADITIONS

King Cake is the celebrated symbol of carnival season. It is also known as ‘Twelfth Night Cake’, because the kick off of Epiphany (January 6th) is twelve nights from the birth of Christ, on December 25th. Traditionally, in New Orleans, a plastic baby is inserted inside each cake, for someone to find. What does it mean if you find the baby? Well, if you are down South, it means you get to host the next Mardi Gras party, and of course, buy the next King Cake. Here in Canada, use ‘finding the baby’ as a way to choose their ‘king’ or ‘queen’ of the party, and some have offered a prize, for finding the baby.
