Lowdown Dirty Mojos Bio:
The Blues and the South… Well let me tell you something. We’re from the south… Southern Ontario. You may chuckle about that but Southern Ontario has a long rich history when it comes to Blues, R’n’B and Roots. Ronnie Hawkins and Levon Helm both moved here from the southern US and found success. Since then many Artists & Bands from here have developed their skills and have prospered. Here’s a short but powerful list: The Band, Crowbar,
King Biscuit Boy, Downchild, Paul James & Jack de Keyzer.
LOWDOWN DIRTY MOJOS play their own brand of uniquely original 60’s influenced R’n’B and Blues, through the skillful songwriting of Paul Wootton & Paul and Stephen Foster.
Here’s how it Happened
During a break at a recording session in 2018, Paul Wootton and Stephen Foster were watching music videos, when a 1966 video of Muddy Waters and his band playing Got My Mojo Workin’ came on. A lightbulb went off and they realized that that was what they should be doing… So with Stephen Foster engineering they set about recording their 1st. album Screamin’ Hoodoo R’n’B and LOWDOWN DIRTY MOJOS was born. They used 16 different Hamilton musicians including players from King Biscuit Boy, Junkhouse, Simply Saucer and The Shakers to complete the album which was released on Vinyl & CD in 2019. A full band was formed and honed their sound in numerous clubs in Hamilton and a variety of local festivals.
COVID curbed the bands ability to play live so they set about recording their 2nd album. Stone Cold Groovers was released in 2021 on CD and all digital platforms and the band was nominated and WON! a Maple Blues Award,
New Artist of the Year. Again affected by COVID it was not awarded until 2022. They received major blues radio airplay for Stone Cold Groovers across the nation, conducting interviews on major radio shows like Holger Petersens CBC Saturday Night Blues, BluesSource with Ken Wallis and At The Crossroads Blues Radio with Brant Zwicker.
The Mojos have been busy playing live shows at clubs and festivals including Hamiltons It’s Your Festival, Dundas Cactus Festival, London Ribfest, The Ancaster Fair & Grand River Arts Festival.
LOWDOWN DIRTY MOJOS have just released their 3rd album Down’n’Dirty on CD and all digital platforms, currently receiving lots of radio airplay across Canada and Internationally too. They’re also currently expanding live shows into the Niagara, Kitchener & Toronto markets and are hoping to embark on a short tour of British Columbia and western Canada later this year.
