PAUL & STEPHEN joined forces in the early 90’s when Stephen along with Paul became a member of THE CRAWLIN’KINGSNAKES and started writing and touring together.
As well as endless touring on their own THE CRAWLIN’ KINGSNAKES toured with, opened for and/or shared the stage with [to name a few] ex Rolling Stones MICK TAYLOR, GEORGE THOROGOOD, THE TRAGICALLY HIP, COLIN JAMES, BIG SUGAR, APRIL WINE, THE HEADSTONES, RONNIE HAWKINS, ANDY CURRAN & THE PHANTOMS. As well as being the house band for THE BARENAKED LADIES “AFTER TOUR PARTY” for their final date of their 1st World Tour.
They created THE LOWDOWN DIRTY MOJOS in Hamilton in 2018 and are lucky to be fronting a band composed of some of Hamiltons best musicians.
Their 1st album “Screamin’Hoodoo R’n’B” was released in 2019 and they’re now playing live shows to support it and are busy writing new songs for their 2nd album.
Paul Wootton: Vocals & Guitar
PAUL was a founding member of the Legendary “Crawlin’ Kingsnakes” who came to prominence in the late 80’s. Hailing from London Ontario and relocating to Hamilton Ontario in the early 90’s. Paul was the main songwriter, singer & guitarist for the band.
He also paid his dues as a singer/songwriter performing in the folk clubs of Hamilton & Southwesten Ontario
Paul is also a graphic designer who had his own screen printing business in London and was the Artist at a screen printing business in Hamilton. At one time Paul was creating T-shirt designs, Posters, Press Kits, Album and CD covers for most of the Hamilton & Londons music community. Much of the graphics you see for THE LOWDOWN DIRTY MOJOS are created by him.
In 2013 The Macintosh Gallery at The University of Western Ontario in London published “GRAPHIC UNDERGROUND: LONDON 1977-1990” by Brian Lambert. Paul was a major contributor to that music scene playing with the seminal punk band “THE SINNERS” & “SPIRAL SCRATCH”. The book contains a large number of his Poster Art, [approx. 30] as did the 2014 Forest City Gallery exhibit for the books release.
Stephen Foster- Lead Guitar & Vocals
STEPHEN was actually underage when he started his musical career on Hamiltons notorious Barton Street, playing guitar for a variety of older “Tavern Bands”. He worked his way through those bands and into the alternative and punk scene in Hamilton Ontario including Hamiltons Hess Village in the 80’s where he met up with such Hamilton characters as Tom Wilson [Junkhouse, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings], Tim Gibbons & Bucky Buchanan to name but a few.
When The Crawlin’ Kingsnakes relocated to Hamilton in the early 90’s he joined the band and he and Paul started writing together and touring together. Stephen appears on the 2nd KINGSNAKES album “Loaded’n’Rollin'”and also engineered their 3rd album “Go All Night” as well as their aptly named unreleased 4th album “The Lost Years”.
Stephen is a sound engineer and has his studio Napier Park Studio in Dundas Ontario and worked for many touring bands, most notably “Junkhouse”. He toured as Road Manager and tech for “Dave & Ian Thomas” on their Music/Comedy tour a few years ago.
He was at one time a partner at Catherine North Studio in Hamilton, with the late Dan Ackin [Junkhouse] and his brother Duke Foster.
Stephen was also a member of the resurrected “Simple Saucer” in the mid 2000’s.
